Lessons in Life
I am an S.4 student in English Course Queen Elizabeth School HKCT. My name is Kar.

The book I read is “Lessons in Life”, published in the year 2006 by Chameleon Press, written by Elsie Tu.

About the Author: The writer was born in Newcastle Tyne, England. She was a teacher and a former member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Elsie Tu has been living in Hong Kong for 60 years. She speaks Cantonese and her husband was a Chinese.

The Content of the book: This book contains 40 articles on politics, moral, saving our culture and heritage, the changes of old and new Hong Kong, and so on.

The Message of the Author: The writer is not only sharing her experience of life with readers, but also inspiring people to take care of others, treasure their family members and learn from hardship.

My Opinion of the book: I learn from the book that we should tolerate everyone if we want to live with others peacefully. Actually, life is not all fun; we should keep a sense of humour to manage difficulties whenever we face problems, hurdles and obstacles. After reading the book, I think that Hong Kong students should work hard in English, write in sentences carefully and learn English everyday by reading with their eyes as well as mouth if they want to get good results.

Recommendation: This book is very good and useful to read. I would recommend it to students. They should read more books outside the school syllabus to widen their minds and sight.

That’s all of my presentation. Hope you enjoy listening. Thank you.
