Ex-38 The Right to Live

(Kar) Nowadays there are plenty of workers who have very hard lives. It is because that they depend upon the poor salaries to support their families for other expenses such as paying the rent, bills, educational fee and local traffic fares and so on.

The Legislative Councillor, Emily Lau, recently pointed out that there are 190,000 households under HK$4,000 per month. They are difficult to earn their living. Therefore, the third reading of the minimum wage was passed on Jul 17, 2010. The law will take effect in the first half of next year and will protect workers to get the pay reasonably.

On the other hand, learning a bitter lesson during the past economic crisis, Hong Kong workers work hard since they are worried that they will be bounced. Moreover, this is a fact; today almost everything depends on machinery or technology rather than workers.

It is less easy for persons who with low skills to find good jobs since they do not have better qualifications or higher education. Actually, finding a satisfying employment now is very competitive whatever who is the middle class or lower such as the young adults, other professions, the person with low education level and the middle-aged workers, etc.

I hope all of the employers to consider their employees’ livelihood. They should be generous to them during an economic boom since their employees were facing the difficult situation with them together during the recent economic crisis. Being a generous and considerate boss, you will have many excellent employees who are loyal to you.
